You are right across the street from one of the gates to the gardens, and it is easy walks to the town center where you fill find plenty of restaurants and bars. The hotel is very basic for example, you get two towels, two small bars of soap, and 2 ketchup packets of shampoo, but it is relatively inexpensive and very clean. The hotels are a very cheap and stay hotels in York uk. The front desk person when I checked in was an attractive lady who was friendly and helpful in suggesting places to go out for the night.
